OBJECTIVES

To understand trends in the use of drug eluting stents.  Specifically to:

§    Determine the current use of drug eluting stents (DESs) in various patient types and lesion types.

·     Investigate anticipated impact of COURAGE trial results on DES usage.

·     Identify drivers of potential increases or decreases in use over the next two years.

§    Rank the importance of safety concerns regarding DESs.

§    Rank various factors in terms of their influence on DES product selection.

§    Evaluate DES products on these factors.

§    Determine effect of published data on possible uptake of XTENT product, Custom NX.

§    Compare and contrast responses between physicians from the United States and Europe.

§    Board-certified or eligible (US only) interventional cardiologists

§    40 from the United States, 20 from Europe

§    In practice between 2 and 30 years

§    Place at least 10 stents per month
