Objectives:

To provide an overview of current type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treatment practices and the near-term market outlook for a set of companies and key therapeutics and the near-term market outlook for a set of companies and key therapeutic products in development by surveying practicing community-based physicians in primary care and endocrinology.

§    Determine physician perceptions and usage of Byetta® (exenatide) and Januvia (sitagliptin) for the treatment of type II diabetes.

§    Identify changes in diabetes treatment prescribing behavior and the drivers behind these changes.

§    Evaluate physician impressions of GLP-1 analogs and DPP-4 inhibitors that are currently in development.

§    Identify the drivers of GLP-1 and DPP4 inhibitor usage and determine the share of patients switching between the two.
