Study Description and Objectives

Panel Intelligence conducted an online panel discussion among six immunologists and other basic science researchers about Soliris® (eculizumab) and its potential uses to treat diseases other than paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).  Secondary objectives of this study included the following:

§    Discuss what is known about Soliris including its:

·     Strengths and weaknesses

·     Mechanism of action

§    Identify other diseases aside from PNH for which Soliris can be used as treatment

§    Explore the potential use of Soliris in the treatment of:

·     Myasthenia gravis

·     Multifocal motor encephalopathy 

·     Miller Fisher Syndrome variant of Guillain-Barre Syndrome  

·     Membranous nephropathy 

·     Dense deposit disease

·     Lupus nephritis  

·     Rheumatoid arthritis

·     Dermatomyositis

·     Age-related macular degeneration

§    Immunologist or basic science researcher studying the complement cascade and any diseases related to it

§    US-based and international panel

§    Currently studying the complement cascade and any diseases related to its dysfunction

§    Familiar with Soliris® (eculizumab)

§    Not involved in any clinical trials for Soliris® (eculizumab) and not a consultant/advisory board member/speaker for Alexion Pharmaceuticals
